준비되어 있으니 꼭 참석하셔서 자녀들과 즐거운 시간을 가지시기 바랍니다.

주제/의상:  “나는 커서 이런 사람이 되고 싶어요”
                     (What I want to be when I grow up)

대상: 유치부, 유년부 어린이들과 가족들
        *Preschool 아동은 반드시 부모님과 다녀야 합니다.

입장료: 아동 한 명 당 사탕이나 초코렛 큰 것으로
한 봉지 혹은 $5.00 (모든 캔디는 집에갈 때 어린이들에게 다시 나누어 줍니다)


** Fall Festival을 굳이Halloween Day에 하는 이유  **

할로윈 데이는 성경에서 금하는 귀신을 섬기는 제사의 일종입니다. 그 유래는 주후 1세기경 지금의 스코트랜드, 아일랜드, 영국의 조상인 켈트족에서 시작했다고 전해 옵니다. 해마다 10월 31일 저녁에 죽음의 신들이 나타나서 사람들을 해친다는 것을 두려워하여 제사를 지낸 것이 그 유래가 되었습니다. 그들은 전쟁 포로나 동물 등을 불에 태워 제사를 지냈고 그렇게 함으로써 죽음의 신이 기뻐한다고 믿었습니다.

아이들이 사탕을 얻으러 다니며 하는 말, “Trick or Treat,”도 죽음의 신들을 잘 대접하지 않으면 (treat) 화를 당한다는 (trick) 뜻이 담긴 것입니다. 이와 같은 행위는 “너는 나 외에는 다른 신들을 네게 있게 말지니라”(출애굽기 20:3)하신 성경 말씀에 어긋나므로 하나님을 섬기는 자들이 참여해서는 안되는 행사입니다.

그러므로 휄로쉽 교회에서는 매년 할로윈 데이에 Fall Festival을 개최하여 어린이들뿐만 아니라 온 가족이 함께 모여 어둠의 세력이 아닌 살아계신 하나님께 초점을 맞추는 시간을 갖도록 하고 있습니다. 이 뜻깊은 행사에 부모님들의 많은 협조를 부탁드립니다. 가족 모두 오셔서 어린이들과 함께 즐거운 시간을 가지시기 바랍니다.

Join us for an exciting evening of games, crafts, candy, prizes, food, and much more as we celebrate MD campus’ annual Fall Festival!

** Why Fall Festival on Halloween night? **

        NCFC does not believe that Christians should participate in the celebration of Halloween due to its origin and practices, which are contrary to the teachings of the Bible.

        The custom of Halloween is traced to the Druid festival of the dead around 100 A.D.  Samhain, a Druid god of the dead, was honored at Halloween in Britain, France, and the Celtic countries.  Druids believed that souls of the dead returned to their former homes to be entertained by the living.  Bonfires were built atop hills so they might find their way.  Suitable food and shelter was provided for these spirits(“treat”) or else they would cast spells, cause havoc, destroy crops, or create terror as they haunted the living (“trick”).  Many witches and Satan worshippers gather to continue the traditional practice of worshipping evil spirits on Halloween day even today.

        When children dress up and knock on doors and ask for treats, they are mimicking the dead!  The Bible instructs us to have nothing to do with the occult practices, the deeds of darkness (Deuteronomy 18:10-11). Some may say,  “but we only do this for fun...  we don’t practice witchcraft.”  That which represents Satan and his domain cannot be handled or emulated “for fun”.  Such participation places the participant in the forbidden enemy territory.

        That is why NCFC insists on having our Fall Festival on Halloween night. We do not just tell our children not to participate in Halloween, but we offer them an exciting alternative to celebrate life and the Giver of Life, not death.  So bring your entire family to this wonderful family event, and show your support.  You will have so much fun, and your children will love you for it!
