Holy Day or Holiday?
(Matthew 1:18-2:11)
Rev. Neil Kim
I. God gave us His Son Jesus as the gift of life. (1:21)
The gift of Jesus was the expression of God’s first love towards us.
We should never forget that Christmas is all about Jesus Christ.
II. God gave His Son Jesus to change your life and your plan.
God turned Mary and Joseph’s lives upside down. (1:19)
God wants you to turn your focus away from you and refocus on Jesus alone.
III. Why do you need Jesus in your life?
Jesus saves you. (1:21)
Jesus restores your relationship with God. (1:23)
Jesus shepherds your life. (2:6)
IV. What would please Jesus the most as you celebrate His birthday? (2:9-11)
The Magi bowed down and worshipped Him.
The Magi gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
V. Application
How are you planning on spending your Christmas day? Will you have time to worship and praise God?
Christmas is the most special day that we can celebrate as a family. Please share the true meaning of Christmas as you get together with your family and friends.
Christmas can be a very stressful time to get through. It demands much of our finances and our time. But let us do so without taking our focus away from Jesus.
