History of NCFC
HISTORY (How it all began)
New Covenant Fellowship Church began with a group of 17 people praying and meeting together in the home of Dr. W. Jamie Kim, the founding pastor. At that time the English–speaking congregation consisted of three young couples and a handful of single people. On September 9, 1990, the first service was held at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD. In the first two years, NCFC experienced phenomenal growth. The church grew from 17 to 500 people!
One of the most cited reasons for coming to this church is the exciting worship experience, coupled with the powerful expounding of the Word of God. Praying and ministering to people has moved us beyond the formal institution of the church and has opened the door to the life-giving presence and work of the Holy Spirit. As a result, in the spring of 2001, our current building was built with the conviction that God would continue to allow us to grow.
The Present…
Today, NCFC has expanded to a congregation of about 2000 people. Three services are held every weekend. The English-speaking congregation is quickly becoming a multi-ethnic family of believers from all walks of life. We offer a small group setting to better meet individual needs broken down by life stages—married people, singles, college, youth, elementary school children, and preschoolers. We also have various outreach ministries such as Salt & Light and World Missions.
Moving Forward…
Indeed, we are so thankful for God’s favor and blessing. He has been so good to us. Praise God! We are excited about our church and the future that God has in store for us. And we are firmly committed to the task of building up God’s Kingdom in our generation.
