 V. Application
In every person, there is a selfish heart desire. It may be to achieve a certain standard. It may be to gain respect. It may be to obtain popularity. Or it may be to receive love. Because of that, we are all capable of wicked things. What is your selfish heart desire, and how can we keep each other accountable?
The ability to influence others positively results from developing a relationship and a reputation. If we wonder why people don’t listen to us when we evangelize or share, perhaps it is because we have not put in the time to develop a relationship and lived out the gospel credibly and consistently. How have you chosen godly influences or been able to influence others for the kingdom of God?
We can’t take the things of this world with us. It’s not necessarily wrong to have things, but you personally may need to let something go. Look forward; don’t look back. Look heavenward; don’t look downward. What are the things that may have become “idols” in your life?
If you are praying for a family member or friend who does not yet know Jesus, don’t stop! Lot was saved through Abraham’s interceding prayer. We have the power to intercede on behalf of the lost as well.
