Experiencing God (2): God Focused Life
(Luke 10:38-42)

 I. To know and do God’s will, you must live a God-focused life.
The focus of the Bible is God, not humans.
To live a God-centered life, you must refocus your life on God. (Romans 12:1-2)
God never asks us to dream up something to do for Him.

 II. My plan or God’s plan
My plan creates more problems, but God’s plan fixes the problem.
You must know first what God is about to do.

 III. God initiates His work
Our God is sovereign God who always takes the initiative to accomplish what He wants to do. (Philippians 2:13)
God waits until we respond to Him by adjusting ourselves to Him.

 IV. God speaks to us.
Does God really speak to people today?  Yes, he does indeed. (Hebrews 3:7-8)
God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the bible, prayer, circumstances, and people.
God speaks to us because He loves us.

 V. God has a specific purpose when He speaks.
He speaks with a specific purpose in mind. (Isaiah 55:11)
God gives a specific purpose so that you can fully focus.
God wants to develop and train your character to do his work. (Matt. 25:14-30)

 VI. Applications
Can you think of a time when God probably wanted to use you but you decided not to obey?  Share with others.
Have you ever pursued your own plan rather God’s plan?  What was the end result?
