We May Be Broken but God Can Restore Us
(Judges 16)
Rev. Neil Kim
I. Samson was deceived by his own lust (vv.15-17).
In spite of his great strength, Samson was not strong enough to control his own lust.
II. Samson’s persistent sinfulness led to his failure (vv. 19-20).
The Spirit of God left him.
Samson became powerless.
III. Samson became a laughingstock (v. 25).
Samson had become the laughingstock of the enemy.
However, the time in prison had not been a waste for Samson.
IV. Samson finally came to his senses (v.28).
When Samson recognized who God is, God honored his prayer and restored Samson’s strength.
God gave him a second chance to finish what God wanted him to do.
V. What can we learn from Samson’s life?
We must understand the danger of sin and its power.
We make be broken but God can restore us (v.30)
When we realize our own brokenness, it is then we find God’s grace.
VI. Application
Samson lost his strength due to his sin. How was his strength was restored?
Due to his lack of discipline he didn’t live up to his potential. How about you? Is there any lack of discipline in your life that may be preventing you from living up to your God-given potential?
We may lose the presence of God and are not aware of it. How can we stay in the presence of God at all times?
