Are You Ready For Change
(Acts 10:1-11:8)
Rev. Neil Kim
I. Early church Christians were resistant to changes. (vv. 10:9-15)
In the vision, God was telling Peter – He was going to do something new.
The early church was consisted only of Jewish believers.
After Peter returned to Jerusalem from baptizing Cornelius & his household, the circumcised believers criticized him. (vv. 11:2-3)
II. God chose Cornelius and Peter to bring changes.
Only God can change people.
God uses few good people to bring about changes. God doesn’t need army of people to do His work. (Psalm 147:10-11)
Why did God choose Cornelius and Peter to bring changes? There were two special qualities in them.
Cornelius had genuine heart for others. (v. 10:2)
Both lived a prayerful life. (v. 10:2, 9)
III. Our God is God of change.
He can do great things in your life if you allow Him to change you.
God desires His church to reach out beyond their comfort zones to reach more and more people for Christ. (vv. 11:15-17)
You must yield to God’s teaching to expand our understanding about who He is and what He wants to do. (v. 11:18)
Why the changes? God wants to save lost lives through you!
IV. Application
Has God tried to bring about a change in your life in the past? What happened?
Have you ever resisted to a change? What was the reason?
The early Christians were repeatedly challenged by God to do things they were uncomfortable of doing. You are going to face the same challenge from God. How are you going prepare yourself for His challenges?
