I Was Blind But Now I See
(Acts 9:1-22)
Rev. Sara Pyon
I. You can be sincere, but sincerely wrong.
Saul was very sincere in persecuting the followers of Jesus (9:1-6)
His privileged birth and upbringing had blinded him (Phil 3:5-6)
His zealotry and passion had blinded him (Acts 22:3-5)
II. Sometimes you have to lose your sight to be able to really see
Saul did not realize his spiritual blindness until he suffered physical blindness first (9:7-9)
He was filled with the Holy Spirit when his spiritual eyes opened (9:17)
III. When your spiritual eyes open, you begin to walk in your destiny
Saul is God’s chosen instrument to the Gentiles (9:15)
He has to pay the price: becomes a target himself as He claims Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God (9:16, 20, 22)
He is empowered by the Holy Spirit: God equips the called (9:17)
IV. Reflection
“You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”. ― Christopher Columbus.
Discuss what aspect of your life you need to be willing to lose sight of (surrender) in order to accomplish what God may have in store for your life.
“There's none so blind as those who will not listen.” - Neil Gaiman.
How well do you listen to God? What is He trying to say to you lately? Do you have people who are not afraid of speaking the truth into your life? How well do you listen and respond to them?
