“Destiny” Jeremiah 1:4-10 Verse Context Application Verse 4 Jeremiah’s prophetic experience comes through God’s call upon his life God’s call can be found through RELATIONSHIP with Him Verse 5 God’s four actions towards the prophet -God knew -God formed -God consecrated -God appointed The knowing was not mere cognition but a sense of relationship God loves you God created you God knows you God appointed you Verse 6 Jeremiah states his lack of eloquence but what God required for Jeremiah’s ministry was a tender heart able to sympathize with the condemned. Little could the young man know how difficult, hopeless, and heartbreaking his task would be God calls when you are weak Verses 7-8 God never makes a mistake when choosing his servant God promises Jeremiah to preserve him God will lead you God’s presence is more important Verse 9 The impartation of the divine message was indicated to him Be God’s mouthpiece Verse 10 Two fold ministry of Jeremiah 1. Destructive 2. Constructive God will do it!! Application 1. Share an event in your life that shows that God was real to you. 2. Read Jeremiah 1:4-10 again and choose a word that stands out to you. Looking at the context of the entire chapter, what do you think it means to Jeremiah and Israel? 3. What does the word that you have chosen in #2, mean to you personally? 4. "Life verse" is a passage or verse of scripture that God has used to strengthen, encourage, and direct your life. Do you have a life verse? Share your life verse. 5. Pray for a vision for your oikos group if you don’t have one or if you do, pray for it to be fulfilled.
