Revealing Jesus in Jonah
- Part 2: God’s Compassion for the World
(Jonah 4)
Pastor Keeyoung Kim
I. Part 1: Called by God, for your good and His glory
When you encounter God, God calls you to people, not to yourself
The power of God is revealed in our obedience, despite our lack of understanding
Doing God’s work transforms the called ones and the ones they’re called to, simultaneously
II. The people of Ninevah: God’s perspective vs. Jonah’s perspective
God is absolutely just and eternally compassionate (1-4:1-3)
Jonah is vengeful and prideful (vv. 1, 3)
III. God doesn’t disqualify us but pursues us when we don’t understand and fall – His
grace is sufficient in our weakness (vv. 4-9)
IV. God teaches us to know His heart through His purposes (vv. 10-11)
V. The sign of Jonah and God’s heart for the world (Mt. 12)
