Nehemiah: A Visionary Leader

I. The God–given Vision
What my God had put in my heart: Rebuilding the Wall (2:12)
Dependence upon God (1:11, 2:4, 2:20)
Confidence/Assurance in God (1:11)
Motive (1:3; 2:17)
Solution to a problem (2:17-18)

II. Living out the Vision
Take Actions (2:1-10)
Risked his life to carry on the vision (ch. 2)
Careful inspection, planning and execution (2:11-16; 4:16)
Share and get people involved (Everyone had a role in rebuilding the wall)
Expect oppositions (2:10, 2:19)
It takes hard work and commitment (4:18-4:23)

III. The Favor of the Lord
The king granted Nehemiah’s requests
The wall was completed in 52 days (6:15-16)
God gave them great joy! (12:43)

IV. Application
Do you have a vision that God has put in your heart? Be committed in carrying it out.
Recognize the favor of God in your life
Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans. The Lord works out everything to its proper end. (Proverbs 16:3-4) Trust that God brings “proper” end to everything even when it doesn’t seem like proper to our understanding.
