"What Does True Discipleship Look Like?"
Luke 5:1-11
Rev. David Chang
I. True discipleship requires faith and obedience (vv. 4-7).
Faith may appear counterintuitive at times.
Obedience follows from faith.
II. True discipleship requires worship (vv. 8-10).
Worship is manifested through confession.
Worship is manifested through amazement.
III. True discipleship requires a change in life purpose (vv. 10-11).
A change in life purpose involves receiving and accepting the will of God.
A change in life purpose involves acting upon the will of God.
IV. Application
When Christ speaks to us, we must believe by faith and act in obedience. How is he speaking personally to you and corporately to us today?
When Christ amazes us, we must worship through acknowledging our unworthiness and his lordship. How is he amazing you personally and us corporately today?
When Christ accepts us and reveals his heavenly will to us, we must accept it and act upon it. Do you recognize his acceptance and forgiveness? And are you now living with a heavenly and kingdom perspective?
