FORKKIO NEWSLETTER

The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Is 40:28-31 (NIV)

 Dearest Brothers and Sisters,

For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:8 (NKJV)

This verse has been in our hearts as we think of you with love. You have been and continue to be a wonderful blessing to us. Thank you for being a part of our lives.

At the end of August, we were able to bring many of the Trokosi women together for a prayer service (called deliverance) where a pastor from Accra prayed with the women and each of the women had the opportunity to receive individual prayer. Many of these women are suffering from satanic bondage and physical ailments that stem from curses being placed upon them from witches and other devil worshippers. Even the women who claim Christ are suffering continual onslaughts by demonic forces within their villages. Please pray that those who received both physical and spiritual healing will keep their eyes fixed on Jesus.

One of the tasks that we have been assigned is to investigate the women presented to us as Trokosi by the shrine leaders. We have reason to believe that the shrine owners presented some women to ECM and other NGOs as Trokosi slaves who were not. Whether this was done in order for the shrine owners to receive additional funds or if it was done so that the women could receive free job training and capital, we are not yet sure. However, these investigations are giving us guidelines that can be used to help us to discern the truth in future liberations. Please pray that God would grant us His wisdom as we conduct these investigations.

Because of these investigations, James recently travelled to Aflao to assist the ECM team there with their investigations. During the field work, the Holy Spirit led 5 souls to Christ! God is good! Despite the enemy’s attack on our work here, the LORD still reigns. Please pray that those individuals who were led to Christ will not return to their old ways, but will grow in Christ. Also, please pray that the ECM staff in Aflao will be diligent in their efforts to disciple these baby Christians.

Well, we have finally been able to secure a competent instructor to teach us the local dialect called EWE (pronounced A-Vay). We only started the classes the first week of September. Please pray that the LORD will loosen our tongues and give us the endurance to learn this language. The EWE alphabet has 30 characters and there are about 7 characters that are not found in the English language. Gosh! Talk about getting tongue-tied!

That’s all for now! We miss all of you sooo much! And we love you all dearly!

God Bless,

James and Denese

Prayer Requests

ªContinued spiritual growth of the former Trokosi slaves, especially that they would not return to idol worship

ªGod’s wisdom and guidance as we conduct investigations

ªEncouragement and endurance to learn the Ewe language

ªHealing of Denese’s back. Please also pray we will be able to find a competent physical therapist near us.

ªUnity and spiritual growth for James and Denese

ªContinued spiritual growth of our families
