Hello everyone,

I just wanted to send out a quick prayer request to cover us on our trip to Samoa. Now that Chong Ho has returned from Nigeria, it is my turn to go out to the field for 3 weeks. Today, I will be leading a team of 4 teachers and 2 teens (students of LCCY in Kona) to Western Samoa. The leaders of the base came to Kona to visit and expressed how they are praying for a ministry like the Learning Center (LCCY) to begin in Samoa. Currently in the village, where the base is located, there are many children who are not attending any local school because they cannot afford to go to the public schools. Therefore, our staff will be running a summer school and help the base to birth a school to get some education to these children. We will be teaching English, math, Nature Study (science), and Bible to the local children in the mornings. In the afternoons, we will be training the staff and the DTS students on how to teach kids and how to use some of the models we use in our school. Because education has not been a valuable aspect of the culture, there will be some resistance and even unbelief about its relevance to their lives. We hope that through our time, they will believe the importance of learning and have fun while they do.

Our vision for the LCCY is to multiple educations in the fields. Two years ago, we started in Kona with 5 staff to run 1st and 2nd grades. This year, we have 10 staff running grades from 1st-7th. Next year, we are believing for 15 staff going up to 8th grade. However, the main vision of LCCY is to train teachers for the field work around the world. Today, we are excited to initiate the field training!

Blessings,

Kris Won

Please pray:

1. Team’s unity – each of us would put aside our agenda and focus on God’s plan for the village

2. Team’s safety & health – we are a team of all women living in fale (huts with no walls)

3. Children will have a positive experience of learning and see the importance of learning

4. Long term solution will rise from the base – staff & teachers

5. Our team to learn more about cross-cultural teaching/curriculum development & for our hearts to enlarge with God’s heart

6. Finances to fulfill the outreach

7. Chong Ho and the kids
