Jong Ho Won (5-16-12)
Dear Partners,
It has been indeed a long time since we
communicated our general updates.
We cannot believe we are in our 10th year of
serving God through Youth With A Mission. Thank you for your trust in our
family and for the continued support.
As we reflect back, it has been an amazing
journey from Maryland to Hawaii. We had no idea that we would serve in YWAM
this long! We had no idea I would be in a leadership on this base. It felt like
only yesterday when I was the “non-staff” and people didn’t understand why I
was here. What’s an “IT” guy doing here in YWAM? This is the journey God had
prepared for us as a family for the last 10 years.
Today, Kris is serving as a ministry
leader/principal of an elementary & junior high school on campus called
“The Learning Center.” She now leads 10 staff and several mission builders.
This summer, she will be taking her staff team to Western Samoa to minister to
children who are not getting any education and also equip YWAM staff to
continue the education of these children. Megan has been accepted to Pepperdine
and will leave us this fall. She has grown up to be a beautiful lady, both
inside and outside. Rachel is thriving academically and in her social
understanding of the world and its needs. She is playing soccer and tennis in
her school. James attends the Learning Center and is doing well academically
and has many friends on the base. It is amazing to see him growing to a young
man. We are so grateful to God for his provision and direction for our family.
He is faithful.
I am still overseeing the finance, IT, and
many other things on the campus as the founder’s close friend. It truly has
been a privilege to serve our God in this capacity. There have been some
challenges in this journey, but overall, we have no regrets, just thankfulness.
We have been blessed with many supporters and friends who have cheered us on
and encouraged us.
Recently, we were invited by a friend in
Korea to “come and rest”. We have taken up the advice and will be in Korea from
May 29-June 29. We will take an advantage of many free missionary services in
Korea. We will have free physical checkup, dental, and other services offered
to returning missionaries. We thank God for His generosity and for His timing.
Thank you so much for your continued support for our family and believing in us.
We love you guys. We miss you all.
Chong Ho
