I. We were like fathers to you, Encouraging you to live lives worthy of God. (v.11)
II. We were like fathers to you, Comforting you to live lives worthy of God. (v.11)
“The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of
understanding draws them out.” Proverbs 20:5
“…the father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to
his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” Luke 15:20
“The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.” 2 Corinthians 1:3

“Be careful to follow all the commands of the LORD your God … Acknowledge
the God of your father and serve him with wholehearted devoon and with
a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every
motive behind the thoughts.” 1 Chronicles 28:8-9
“Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain
understanding. I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching.
When I was a boy in my father’s house, still tender and an only child of my
mother, he taught me and said: ‘Lay hold of my words with all your heart;
keep my commands and you will live.’” Proverbs 4:1-4
“Discipline your son and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your
soul.” Proverbs 29:17
“In everything set them an example by doing what is good.” Titus 2:7
“You are witnesses and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we
were among you who believed.” 1 Thessalonians 2:10
