“What About the Love?”

Revelation 2:1-7

Commendations - “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words
of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden
lampstands. I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that
you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be
apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have
endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary…But you have this in
your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.”
(Revelation 2:1-3 & 6)
Condemnation - “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at
first.” (Revelation 2:4)
The Ephesian church fell prey to a cold and mechanical observance of religion.
What was their first love? Their first love was Jesus!
“I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the
Holy Spirit—I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could
wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people,
those of my own race…” Romans 9:1-3

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
