Isaiah 66:10-14

Mothers are an almost perfect picture of God.
I. God’s characteristic is reflected in our mother’s gentle and loving care.
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how
often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks
under her wings, and you were not willing. (Matthew 23:37, NIV)
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful
promises are your armor and protection. (Psalm 91:4, NLT)
The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have
heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about
their suffering.” (Exodus 3:7, NIV)
II. God’s characteristic is reflected in our mother’s gentle and loving touch.
“Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. "I am willing,"
he said. "Be healed!" (Mark 1:41, NLT)
“When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of
Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.”
(Genesis 32:25, NIV)
