From Jerusalem to Sterling: Acts Then, Acts Now
(Book of Acts)
Rev. Sara Pyon

 I. Acts – The Ongoing Story
The abrupt end of Book of Acts
Acts was never intended to end
It continues down the centuries and throughout the world

II. We Need to Return to God’s Intention for His Church
Missional church movement is not new
Jesus modeled it (Mark 6:6-12)
Jesus commissioned it (Acts 1:8)
“You will be my disciples,” not “should” or “can”
Jesus continues to fuel it: the indwelling Holy Spirit (Eph. 3:20)

III. How Do We Become a Missional Church?
When each member lives missionally
Engage in an intentional lifestyle that aims to bring the aroma of Christ into the places where we live, work, play, and worship
Meet people at the point of their need: Felt needs vs. Real need

 IV. Your Acts 29
Is it compelled by love?: “Feed my lambs” (John 21:15-17)
How many ‘potential believers’ are you investing in?
Embrace the process, not just the result.

 V. Reflection/Application
Do you agree with the approach to meet other’s felt needs first in order to meet their real need (salvation in Christ Jesus)?  Why or why not?
Have you ever led someone to Christ? How did it happen?
Think of one person in your life who needs Jesus.  Ask the Holy Spirit to help you love that person and know how to meet his/her needs. Simply trust and obey.
