Paul’s Purpose-Driven Life
(Acts 29:17-32)
Rev. Sara Pyon
I. Paul’s Own Testimony
Paul’s WHAT: How he preached the Gospel (vv. 18-21, 25-27)
With great humility
With tears (endurance) (v. 19)
With boldness and passion (v. 20)
In complete obedience and trust (vv. 22-23)
Paul’s WHY: His mission in life (v. 24)
To complete the task given by Jesus Christ
II. Paul’s Exhortation to the Elders (vv. 28-31)
Keep watch over yourselves & over all the flock
Be shepherds of the church of God (v. 28b)
Know the value of the flock (v. 28b)
Know the enemy: Attack from the outside and the inside
III. Paul’s Confidence in God and His Word (v. 32; Jude 24-25; Phil. 1:6 )
It is God’s grace that saved us. It is God’s grace that will carry us to the end.
God’s Word is sufficient to guard us against Satan’s schemes.
IV. Reflection
What is your WHY in life? How would you complete Paul’s statement, “I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only ____________________________.” How is your WHY dictating your WHAT each day?
What work or ministry has the Lord committed to you where you need to demonstrate faithfulness and commitment? If you were to leave this ministry, what would your farewell message be like?
In what ways has God proven faithful in your life to use the Word of Grace to build you up and protect you and mature you?
