Internal Cleasning
(Acts 4:32-5:11)

 I. Motive for giving
Barnabas was the one who sold property for God’s glory,
Ananias and Sapphira sold property to enhance their spiritual recognition.

 II. What caused Ananias and Sapphira to do this?
Satan can deceive us, but he cannot make choices for us.
We cannot lesson or excuse our sins by blaming others or other things or situations.

 III. Why was God so harsh? (5:3)
Ananias and Sapphira’s deceit was threatening the mission of the church.
Church discipline is unpleasant.   However, there are times in the life of a church sin must be confronted.

 IV. God is to be feared  (5:11)
On one hand, God is our loving Father; on the other hand, He expects us to fear Him.
God is love and has tremendous patience, he also judges his people. (Hebrews 10:31)

 V. Application
The sin of Ananias was not keeping his money but lying.  Why does God hate so much of us lying?
Do you think God’s judgement was too harsh?  Why?
Have you experienced “the fear of the Lord?”  How has that fear changed your life?
