Our Faith is in Christ Alone
(Acts 4:1-31)
Rev. Neil Kim
I. Facing the Adversity (vv. 1-12)
We are going to face adversities when we talk about Jesus (vv. 2-4).
We are not to hide from adversity (vv. 5-10).
We must speak the truth (v. 12).
II. Responding to the threat (vv. 13-18)
Peter and John were confident before the threat. How?
They were men of prayer.
They were men of kindness and compassion.
They were not to speak at all nor teach anyone in the name of Jesus (v. 18).
III. Complete trust in God (vv. 19-22)
When Peter and John faced with this threat, their response was never in doubt.
If we are true to our relationship to God, we must put complete trust in God.
IV. What happened to the church? (vv. 23-31)
The church lifted their voices in praise to the Lord.
They were not praying for relief from oppression or threat but for enablement to speak God’s words with great boldness.
They prayed for supernatural power in signs and wonders to accompany their ministry of evangelism (v. 30)
The church became vibrant (v. 31).
V. Application
How did these unschooled and ordinary men manage to confront the most powerful and influential men of their day?
Have ever faced adversity when you talked about Jesus? How did you handle it?
