Time is Short to an Eternal Life with God
Rev. Mark Kosko
(1 Corinthians 7:29-31)
1 Corinthians 7:29-31:
29 What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not; 30 those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; 31 those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.
I. A sense of urgency and priority to seek the Lord
Time is too short to be engrossed in the things of this world
This world and everything in it will pass away (including our worry and stress)
Therefore live in this world but not of this world
II. Spending time with the Lord
In Prayer
In Scripture: Mark 5- The Sick Woman is Restored to the Community
Receive revelation and reverence for the Lord
III. Reflection: Do you feel as though you are growing spiritually over the years? If you are amen to that! If not is it because perhaps the time spent with the Lord is negated and distracted by the time spent in this rat race we call life? Maybe true “tithing” of one’s time is not a straight-up percentage of one’s time but whatever quality of time it takes to achieve true intimacy with the Lord.
