(5) The Rules of Engagement of Spiritual Warfare
(Joshua 6)
Rev. Neil Kim
I. Basic understandings before engaging in spiritual warfare
God is in charge of warfare (vv. 5:13-14)
Fear is on our enemy (v. 6:1)
We must remember that we fight from victory, not for victory (v. 6:2)
II. You must follow God’s instructions (vv. 6:3-9)
God always knows what He will do. Our responsibility is to wait for Him to tell us all that we need to know and then obey.
God’s plan was seemingly foolish, but it worked.
III. Staying quiet (v. 6:10)
We don’t need many words when we are on a mission.
Too much information can cause confusion, doubt, speculation, and fear.
IV. You must follow God’s timeline and persevere (vv. 6:11-20)
V. God’s faithfulness (vv. 6:22-23)
When God makes a promise, He will deliver.
VI. Fame comes from God (v. 6:27)
You should never pursue fame on your own. When you faithfully do God’s work, fame will naturally come.
If God gives you fame, you must remember to give God the glory and remain humble.
VII. Application
What should we do if we ask God for His plan and He doesn’t tell us right away?
The only way to grow in faith is to accept challenges and trust God to give you victory. How do you usually deal with challenges?
