God Provides, Can We be Glad in it?
(Proverbs 30:7-9)
Rev. Mark Kosko

I. What demands do we make of God?
We grow impatient and frustrated with unanswered prayers
We tell God to hurry up and do what we want
But rather, if we must demand of God, demand that He save us from ourselves (v. 7)

II. Do you feel satisfied with your pursuit of the American Dream?
Is contentment in material things truly attainable or are we kidding ourselves?
Is there true fulfillment in insatiable wants, or does God provide just enough?
Can we recognize the temptations of the world as falsehood and lies? (v. 8)

III. Our sense of entitlement and self-centered pride will be our undoing
We’ll claim God’s abundant provision as our own effort
Or else, in desperation we’ll make terrible decisions and dishonor ourselves and God (v. 9)

IV. Reflection:
Do you see how the passage illustrates our poor judgment when we lose sight of God both when we live in abundance or when we have little? We begin to want to take credit for our good fortune or so-called success. Or in desperate times we take desperate actions, and that applies to desperate want not only for wealth and careers but also in desperate want for relationship. Which area have you been tempted in?
