Experiencing God (10):
Both Rejoicing and Suffering as One
(Acts 4:32-35)
Rev. Mark Kosko
I. God provided the church as a way of fellowship with Him
They were one in heart and mind as believers in Christ Jesus (v. 32)
Everyone shared and reached out to one another (v. 34)
The Holy Spirit moved powerfully in their presence (v. 33)
II. Everyone has a purpose and place in the church (1 Corinthians 12:14-26)
Every member of the congregation is special and honored (vv. 22-24)
All parts are honored equally according to their spiritual walk (v. 25)
Its members should have equal concern for each other- both rejoicing and suffering together. (v. 26)
III. The Church responds to God’s Will
“In the body of Christ, each believer has direct access to God. God can speak to any and every member of the congregation.” –Experiencing God
“When Christ guides each spiritual leader and member of the body to function properly, the whole body confirms God’s Will and is enabled to carry it out.”
IV. Reflection:
Do you feel this church provides a welcome sanctuary for you both in fellowship with one another as well as spiritually with the Lord? What stage are you at with the church and with God? Still in need of nurturing or does the Spirit compel you to reach out and provide in some way for others as was done for you?
