Experiencing God (8): Adjusting Your Life to God
Luke 9:23
Rev. Mark Kosko
I. Adjusting to God’s will begins with your heart and mind
“Many of us want God to speak and lead us in His will. We want the excitement of God working through us, but we are loathe to make any major adjustments so He will.”
“Our tendency is to want God to adjust to us and our plans. We want to obey God but only on our terms!”
“Adjusting our lives to God means dealing with financial, physical, emotional, spiritual and relational barriers that prevent us from absolute obedience to Him.” –Experiencing God
II. Missio Dei: Mission of God
We support a biblical basis for missions but is there a missional basis for the bible?
The bible illustrates many different occasions where God calls out those to further His narrative, His great plan, His great mission.
None of them prayed for that specific vision but were called by God.
III. It’s no longer as difficult adjusting to God’s will when done in sincere love for
the Lord
Selfless Obedience to God: “Christianity is not about serving where we are appreciated or where we enjoy success but about enjoying a [loving] relationship with our Savior who gave up everything so we could experience salvation.”
Acting in humility and deference to the Lord: Phil 2:3-4
God’s ambition releases you from your own ambition
IV. Reflection
Do you believe God’s will is so utterly complete and profoundly fulfilling that your desire and life’s purpose would be nothing more than pursuit of that? Is your answer to that question either way reflected in how you live your life?
