Don’t Give Up
(Nehemiah 1)
Rev. Neil Kim
I. Nehemiah saw the brokenness of the walls of the city of Jerusalem. (vv. 1-3)
Nehemiah saw and recognized the brokenness.
If we were to compare the condition of Jerusalem wall to our own lives, many of us may find themselves in a similar state of condition.
II. When Nehemiah heard, he sat down and wept, and prayed. (v. 4)
He was willing to face the facts and own them, to weep over them, and be honest to God about them. (Transparency)
He fasted and prayed.
III. God is always listens to our prayers. (vv. 5-6)
IV. Nehemiah repented of his sins and sins of others. (vv. 6-7)
There is no attempt to excuse or to blame others. (Accountability & Unity)
V. Nehemiah was reminded that our God is the God of grace and mercy. (vv. 8-10)
Our God is God of forgiveness and restoration.
When we fail, if we confess our sins, God would forgive our sins (1 John 1:9)
VI. Nehemiah asked God for help. (v. 11)
Regardless of where you are in life there is always a place to start.
It begins with God!
