The Heart Transplant and Beyond
(Ezekiel 36:24-28)
Rev. Sara Pyon
I. Background
II. The Need for the Heart Transplant
The problem: A heart of stone (v. 26)
God-initiated procedure: “I will”
God-provided donor: Jesus Christ
The result: A heart of flesh and a new Spirit (vv. 26-27)
(Regeneration, New birth)
III. Requirements After the Heart Transplant
Commit to follow-up care (Proverbs 4:23)
Take life-long anti-rejection medicines (2 Timothy 3:16)
Eat healthy & exercise appropriately (Romans 12:2; Phil. 4:6-7)
Avoid infections (1 Corinth 15:33; Romans 6:11-14)
Failure to follow-up can be deadly (Luke 9:23-24)
IV. What Is the State of Your Heart?
A Stone heart, a Hardened heart, or a Healthy heart
What are you going to do about it? (James 1:22-25)
V. Reflections
Share honestly with your Oikos members about the state of your heart. If you have a hardened heart, what do you think are the primary causes? What should you do to have a healthy heart?
How are you responding to what is happening at NCFC? What does that reveal about the state of your heart?
Pray together for God to change our heart of disobedience, hatred, and pride (from a heart of stone) to obedience, love, and humility (to a heart of flesh).
