I. Contradiction?
Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus (v. 5)
He delayed His visit by two days (v. 6)
He rejoiced over Lazarus’ death (v. 15)
II. Lazarus Family’s Wish vs. Jesus’ Will
Temporary life vs. eternal life (v. 21)
Temporary happiness vs. eternal joy (v. 15)
III. “I Am the Resurrection and the Life” (vv. 25-26)
Dying vs. ending in death (v. 4)
Jesus doesn’t just enable resurrection, but He IS the Resurrection (vv. 24-25)
Jesus doesn’t just give life, but He IS the life

Share an experience where God did not answer your prayer the way you wanted, yet His answer turned out better.
When do you have the most difficult time trusting in God’s goodness, faithfulness, or even existence? How could you combat that?
Resurrection is always preceded by death. If you are not experiencing Jesus’ resurrection power in your life, what does that tell you?
