WHAT IS AWANA?

AWANA is an international, non-denominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing weekly clubs and programs for three-year olds through high school.  In the US alone there are thousands of AWANA clubs, which are sponsored by the local churches.

THE AWANA ACRONYM
A= Approved
W= Workmen
A= Are
N= Not
A= Ashamed

This acronym is based on 2 Timothy 2:15, which states, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and correctly handles the word of truth.”

WHY AWANA?

The goal of AWANA is to “reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.”  Thus the purpose of AWANA is twofold: Evangelism- to draw boys and girls from the community into the club ministry where they may hear the gospel and accept Christ as their Savior; Training- to prepare clubbers to help fulfill the Great Commission through outreach, service to their church, and development of leadership qualities.
